Hi, I'm Josh

I’m a cognitive neuroscientist based in Los Angeles, working at the frontiers of (focused-ultrasound) neuromodulation, neuroimaging and clinical neuroscience. The roles I've held in academic, non-profit, clinical, and startup environments have made me a first-hand witness to the full path from basic science to products and treatments accessible to the general public.

I am especially driven to understand the nature of consciousness, which I see the single most significant and fundamental question we face-as a society, and as individuals. In a universe that appears otherwise cold and bitterly indifferent--nothing more than a long series of particle interactions-each of us is a candle in the dark in-which all meaning, ethics and purpose resides.
